BIO

My name is Mike Blackham and I have a real passion for the Davis County community and will work hard to keep it the best community possible. I strongly support single family and owner occupied housing, encouraging stability and a sense of ownership within the community. I have always had to live on a budget and believe the County should as well.
I am currently serving my second term as a Kaysville City Council Member. I had a fulfilling full time career as a Building Official where I served Kaysville City for 34 years. I also worked part-time my entire career for a local fire department. I started at Farmington Fire Department as a Firefighter and progressed to an EMT Advanced and Battalion Chief for Kaysville City Fire Department. Additionally, I have served the County by representing Kaysville City on the Davis County Mosquito Abatement District for over 20 years.
I promise to represent you effectively and passionately. Together, we can make a difference in our community.

DCRP Candidate Questions

Q. Clearly articulate your position as it relates to the Davis County Republican Constitution principles and values and how you will implement those principles and values in your decision-making. 75 words or less

A. I have read them all and have already agreed to them and will review them as my decisions are made with individual items that may conflict or pertain to those principals and make every effort to stay within the Republican Party values.

Q. If you do not agree with any of the principles and values of the Davis County Republican Constitution, provide why you do not agree and offer an alternate position and support that position. 75 words or less

A. Without any specific issue that required variation from the Republican values and principals, I cannot see why I would need to provide an alternate position.

Q. Governing is difficult work and requires standing for positions that may be unpopular or are popular. In either case, your approach to advocate for positions requires leadership skills. Please describe in detail your decision-making process and your ability to negotiate with others to put forward your ideas and approaches. 75 words or less

A. First, I do my homework to learn both sides of the issue, then I try to see how much it costs and how does it affect the budget. How will my decision affect the outcome in 5 years, 10 years and finally 20 years and then I try to advocate my decision to others who I will be voting with.
