2026 Candidates for General Election

Tami Tran

Tami Tran

Candidate for Utah State Senate – District 6

A lifelong Republican, past State Central Committee member, and current state and Davis County Delegate, Tami Tran believes deeply in service, accountability, and gratitude.

Married for over 35 years to her husband Ly, Tami is the proud mother of two and grandmother to three. In 1991, she and Ly sponsored and assumed financial responsibility for Ly’s entire immediate family from Vietnam—seven individuals who are now proud U.S. citizens. Their family story is one of faith, opportunity, and love.

Elected Mayor of Kaysville in 2021, Tami is a trusted leader and committed community advocate. She has strengthened partnerships across Davis County, prioritized public safety, championed economic development, and fostered transparency and collaboration at City Hall.

Adopted from Seoul, Korea, and naturalized as a U.S. citizen in 1979, Tami learned early the value of family, faith, and resilience. A Brigham Young University Political Science graduate, she built a successful career in mortgage lending, commercial development, and entrepreneurship. In 2004 she co-founded an aerospace and defense contracting company and today serves as Owner/CEO of Rylex and Owner/President of Woodbury Technologies—companies that have employed hundreds of people nationwide and created jobs for Utah families.

She chairs the Davis Technical College Board of Trustees and the Davis County Council of Governments, and serves on the Utah League of Cities and Towns Board, Weber State University National Advisory Board, and State of Utah Cyber Security Commission. Under her leadership, Kaysville launched the Youth Leadership “Mayor Lunches” program and the first Davis County Council of Mayors.

Tami is running for the Utah State Senate to bring her experience as a mayor and business owner to the state level. She is committed to protecting strong families, defending freedom, and keeping government accountable and limited—guided by fiscal responsibility, honest leadership, and constitutional principles that keep Utah the best place to live, work, and raise a family.

“Leave every person and situation better than you found them.”

Scott Parke

Scott Parke

Davis County Controller

I’m Scott Parke, a CPA and lifelong Republican with more than 20 years of government-finance experience, including 10 years with the Utah State Auditor’s Office and 11 years as Weber County Comptroller. For the past year, I have served as your Davis County Controller, where I have worked to ensure County finances are accurate, transparent, and responsibly managed.

I’m running because Davis County needs experienced financial leadership committed to balanced, sustainable budgets and accountability to taxpayers. During my first year in office, I implemented reforms to reduce long-term costs, control spending growth, and make the County’s financial information easier for residents to understand. I believe government should live within its means, focus on essential services, and clearly explain how taxpayer dollars are being used.

Melissa Ballard

Melissa Ballard

Melissa Garff Ballard is the Republican candidate for reelection to the Utah House of Representatives in House District 20, where she has served since 2019. A lifelong Davis County resident, Melissa is focused on strengthening families, improving education and preparing Utah for continued growth.

Katy Hall

Katy Hall

State Representative – House District 11

Serving the people of District 11 has been one of the great honors of my life. As a nurse, I bring a firsthand understanding of healthcare and the challenges facing patients, providers, and families to my work in the Utah Legislature. My experience in healthcare has helped me be a strong and informed voice on healthcare policy and advocate for practical solutions that improve care and protect patients.

I believe in common-sense conservative principles, personal responsibility, limited government, property rights, fiscal responsibility, and preserving the freedoms that make Utah and America exceptional. I have worked hard to listen to my constituents, understand their concerns, and turn their priorities into meaningful action. I will continue to do so.

My husband and two sons have served in our nation’s military, giving me a unique perspective on service, sacrifice, and the freedoms we are privileged to enjoy. I understand what our servicemen and women, and their families, fight to protect. I love this country and I love Utah. I am deeply grateful for the freedom and opportunities we have been given, and for those who sacrificed and paved the way before us. My goal is to honor that legacy and leave Utah stronger for the next generation.
